I have always had a love of Shanties and sea songs and some years ago I joined a group called the "Shanty Crew and spent just over two years with them, we had some really good times together the most memeorable being on the "Cutty Sark". We used to gather once a month and sing on this famous Clipper. Unfortunately I left before we could take this particular version of the group into the studio.
So in 2012 I started to get together a set of my favourite Shanties and Forbiters (these are songs the sailors used to sing off duty as it was considered bad luck to sing Shanties unless you were working) and chose Steve Last and Anthony Burke who I had worked with on "Work and Leisure" and another good friend Chris Lawley. The mix of voices really worked and in April of 2013 we took it into Luke Oldfield's Studiio in Denham were I had recorded the last CD and spent the day recording the songs. We had spent a fair amount of time in rehearsal which shows in the end result which I personally am really pleased with. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did in preparing it.
